Open Student Positions

This Data Science student assistant will focus on support for data-intensive projects in collaboration with the Data Services team. Activities may include support for R, python, Tableau, .etc. for data analysis and visualization. The Assistant is expected to document all activities and complete all other tasks as assigned.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing support assistance for data-intensive projects in collaboration with Data Services staff
  • Develop documentation and guides
  • Other duties as assigned

Special Skills

  • Demonstrated familiarity in using and troubleshooting with at least one of the following tools: RStudio, Python, Tableau, Three.js, ArcGIS, SPSS, NVivo
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, Javascript)

Summer Diversity Internship for Undergraduate Students

The WashU Libraries are accepting applications from current WashU undergraduates for an 8-week (June 2 – July 25, 2025) in-person paid internship. The internship is integral to the Libraries’ commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA). We are also committed to the national effort to increase diversity in academic librarianship. Please review our IDEA Statement.

Interns will be introduced to careers in academic librarianship, receive mentoring from librarians, and work on various library projects that promote the Libraries’ unique and diverse collections. Projects will include:

  • Developing library research guides and other outreach materials
  • Creating displays for the Libraries or campus residential areas
  • Developing a research project of personal interest that promotes awareness of the Libraries’ extensive collections

To be eligible for the internship, applicants must be undergraduates in the Fall 2025 semester. This summer internship is not for students graduating in May 2025.

The summer internship is 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday), pays $15.00 per hour, and includes campus housing and meals. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 5:00 pm.
